about

BONUS TRACK: Written by Garry Bonner & Alan Gordon, “You’re Free (Don’t Get Surrounded By Everyday Things)” was slated as the followup to the Barracuda’s “The Dance At St. Francis”, but was shelved. Now, this lost Bonner & Gordon gem has been lovingly recreated by Gandalf singer/guitarist Peter Sando from an acetate preserved in his library. Jack Nitzsche’s stunning arrangement, coupled with Sando’s spot-on vocal, serve up a colorful pop masterpiece in the spirit of the classic sounds of the late 60’s.

lyrics

YOU’RE FREE BOINNER/GORDON

HEY LITTLE GIRL
WHAT’S THAT I SEE IN YOUR EYE
YOU SAY YOU’RE LOST IN THE WORLD
THINK LIKE IT’S PASSING YOU BY
BUT WAIT
YOU’VE JUST GOT TO GO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
‘TIL YOU FIND OUT ALL YOU GOTTA KNOW
AND DON’T GET SURROUNDED BY EVERY DAY THINGS
‘CAUSE YOU’RE FREE

SAD LITTLE GIRL
FOR YOU I’VE GOT PLENTY OF TIME
I’VE SEEN ENOUGH OF THE WORLD
TO KNOW JUST WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND
YOU’VE JUST GOT TO GO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
‘TIL YOU FIND OUT ALL YOU GOTTA KNOW
AND DON’T GET SURROUNDED BY EVERY DAY THINGS
‘CAUSE YOU’RE FREE

EVERYBODY KNOWS
EVERYBODY’S GONNA KNOW YOUR NAME
AND I BELIEVE
EVERYBODY NEEDS
EVERYBODY NEEDS TO GET AWAY
COME BACK SOMEDAY BUT

GO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO
‘TIL YOU FIND OUT ALL YOU GOTTA KNOW
AND SEE ALL YOU WANNA SEE
‘TIL YOU FIND OUT WHERE YOU WANNA BE
BUT DON’T GET SURROUNDED BY EVERY DAY THINGS
‘CAUSE YOU’RE FREE
